Lviv city hall is located in the heart of Rynok Square and its Ukrainian name “Ратуша” (Ratusha) is derived from German counterpart “Rat Haus”.

The first city hall was built in the middle of XIV century and burnt shortly afterwards (the city had always problems with water system, therefore, city has been frequently set on fire). The subsequent building of city hall has been set up in the XV c. having a watch with melodical chimes.

The third building of the city hall was set up in 1619, which had the emblem of Lviv city and Polish coat of arms. In the XVIII century many buildings were built being attached to the city hall which led to a big crack. However, many specialists approved of building’s safe condition and at the very moment of signing the papers on the safety the building collapsed, burying 8 people in its wreckage.

The fourth city hall building was established in 1835 remaining untouched till these days.

City hall is the venue of the city life, with high tower in the middle of Ratusha, where one can observe the hustling and bustling city in its cosy tranquility – the view, never to be forgotten.
